special educational needs schools
Pupils, parents, carers and health professionals have been instrumental in helping us develop our menus to ensure they meet the needs of every child.
All menus offer a main meal of the day with a vegetarian alternative. Some schools also offer an additional jacket potato menu or cold lunch option too.
For detailed information about the choices available, please contact your child’s school.
Allergens, Food Intolerances and other Special Dietary Requirements
All our kitchen staff undertake allergen awareness training, we operate a very robust system to ensure each meal ordered is safely delivered to meet the individual customers’ needs and we are happy to provide menu advice and support for customers with medically diagnosed allergens and food intolerances. Please contact your child’s school in the first instance for more information.
Educaterers work in partnership with NHS Dietetics teams across the region to support customers with special dietary requirements. Please contact your child’s medical practitioner or dietician in the first instance for more information.
The Educaterers team are professional, helpful and respectful. They have met with us and our students on many occasions to discuss healthy eating – and also meet regularly with members of our school council to ensure they are providing meals that the students want. For instance, the students requested a jacket potato option recently which Educaterers provided. We have introduced the coloured wristband system, so that pupils can pre-order their meals – and the Educaterers staff have been very patient while we find our feet! They are also quick to resolve any issues when they arise. The Educaterers staff get to know our students personally and understand their exact individual dietary requirements. When they update our menu they continually refer to our opinion to ensure we have plenty of food choices to meet all our students’ different needs
